Humans

The only race of people on the continent of Fowlkeep, humans are rather blissfully unaware of the existence of the Durrits and the Felk. While the Felk have made incursions in the past, the last was several hundred years prior to the current date in the Fowlkeep novels and the stories of the tall, slender 'Ice Demons' has become a horror story to tell at night.

The humans of Fowlkeep are, for the most part, Caucasian stock; those in Lucht have a darker, duskier skin tone than the rest of the continent. Humans average from about 5 feet to 6 and a half feet tall when fully grown with the female the shorter and slenderer of the two sexes. Females bear and nurse the young, while men act as hunters and providers.

The humans of Fowlkeep live in what could be seen as a Post-Rome Britain (think historical King Arthurian era, rather than Fantastical King Arthurian era). They fight with blades of steel and wear chain link mail rather than plate.

Fowlkeep society is patriarchal; there are more rights for the men in society, though women have a lesser set of rights; they are not seen as property once they have reached the age of 18, but prior to that are property of their fathers. Women can join the armies though that is rare, and rarely can hold official positions of power. The women that do hold them have fought tooth-and-nail to reach them and fight tooth-and-nail to hold them.

The average age of a Fowlkeep human is approximately 65 years.
