Fowlkeep

Fowlkeep. An ignominous name, nothing fancy or awe inspiring. In fact, it is quite the opposite. The name 'Fowlkeep' brings to mind a chicken coop, a gathering of messy nests and fowl. Perhaps the name alludes to something. The people of Fowlkeep don't care though. Fiercely proud, they defend against the foul Felk, strange creatures from beyond the seas which aren't quite human...

The land of Fowlkeep is a medieval-based world. What magic there is isn't wild, like you could expect in most high fantasy. However, Fowlkeep isn't high fantasy. It's low fantasy. The stories of Fowlkeep focus around our heroine, a girl named Fleur. Teased and mocked for her weight and unwanted by her mother, Fleur isn't confident enough to grab what she can in life and simply exists, a serving girl in her mother's Inn.

When war breaks out, the town of Valourdown is thrust right into the middle of conflict. The Happy Hornet Inn becomes the headquarters for the invading people, and when things get tough, the enemy king comes in. Here is where Fleur discovers that she is worth something...as a spy for her people.

Fleur will have to struggle with her loyalty to her people, her love for the enemy, and her own self-image. And yet, even as war wages on Fowlkeep, another prescence waits to make itself known...the Felk.
